Founded on March 7, 1927 as Houston Junior College, UH is the third-largest university in Texas and 23rd-largest university in the United States with an enrollment of 36,104.The university serves students in 12 academic colleges and in the interdisciplinary Honors College on a 560-acre campus in southeast-central Houston. UH offers over 300 degree programs: 112 bachelors, 135 masters, 54 doctoral, and three special professional degrees—law, optometry, and pharmacy.
